As an international school we are extremely lucky to experience different cultures and perspectives on a daily basis.  One of the best things about international education is the opportunity it gives students to engage with the whole world in one classroom.

We come from a variety of traditions, religions, histories, upbringings and backgrounds.  This richness is what makes us so unique and able to foster and develop our young people into the change makers of tomorrow.

We are a community who value everyone regardless of age, gender identity, disability, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.  As it says on our school noticeboard in the foyer…

Different

Individuals

Valuing and accepting

Each other

Regardless of

Skin colour, gender, sexuality,

Intellect

Talents or

Years

With this in mind, we are looking at how we take our responsibility to the values of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) seriously.  Over the coming weeks Eerde IBS have a number of activities planned to develop our awareness as a community.  We will have an assembly to introduce these activities and invite the community to engage with them together.  We have also invited a specialist in diversity education to join us and to meet with staff and students in order to develop a workshop for the whole of the secondary school to take place on 7 December.  From here we’ll look at setting up a JEDI steering group with staff and students working together to continue promoting Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the long term.

We are very excited about this initiative. It really gives us the opportunity to develop, educate and build a stronger community and continue to produce students who can take our world forward in the future.
