As of the academic year 2024 / 2025 Eerde IBS is a phone free school!
The Dutch Government has brought into place a ban on phones in schools. There are numerous reasons for this, but mainly it is because phone use, the distraction caused by phones, and phone addiction are all linked to poor educational performance.
Therefore this year Eerde is adopting a Phone Free School Policy.
As you can imagine, this has caused some anxiety with our students and we recognise that many of them may find this transition difficult. In some cases, it is possible to experience withdrawal symptoms when access to devices is cut off and we want to support anyone who is experiencing this. Therefore we will be running sessions in the first weeks with the students to talk this through.
