The Eerde-Rijksmuseum partnership reached new heights on February 26th with an exciting online session, “Meet the Professional with Rijksmuseum”. Our students from Grades 9, 10, and 11 took part in this valuable learning experience, which was another step in the ongoing collaboration between Eerde IBS and the world-renowned Rijksmuseum.

At Eerde, we always seek opportunities for our students to enhance their knowledge beyond the classroom and this session was a perfect example. Experts from the Rijksmuseum’s Marketing, Human Resources and Finance departments shared their professional experiences, explained their roles, and answered students’ questions on real-world business and economic scenarios. The interactive session gave students a deeper understanding of how a major museum operates, including how it attracts visitors, generates revenue, supports tourism and contributes to the economy.

This session highlighted that museums are not just about Art and History, but also play a significant role in business, culture, and national growth. It was an inspiring experience, equipping students with practical knowledge for their future learning journeys and careers.

Eerde Students’ Voice:
The overall experience was an interactive one that allowed me to fully understand some of the questions that I had for the different departments, it allowed me to learn more about a business like this and made me curious about other businesses like it. Ezra [Gr10, Business]

I think that the answer during the Q&A was very understandable and clear. It was an interesting experience for me to talk to the HR manager of the Rijksmuseum. Amir [Gr11, Economics]

The whole experience was informative. It was interesting to hear all of the ways that the Rijksmuseum runs its business as efficiently as possible. Max [Gr11, Economics]

A special thanks to Ms. Shani our beloved Art teacher for helping us coordinate this incredible event and to the Rijksmuseum team members Rianne, Titus, Lieneke and Ahlem for their time, expertise and contributions to making this session a success.
