In the Science lab this week, Grade 9 students tested for the presence of key biological molecules: reducing sugars, starch, fats and oils, and proteins. Using Benedict’s solution, they identified simple carbohydrates, while the iodine solution revealed the presence of starch, and the Biuret test confirmed proteins. This engaging experiment allowed students to apply theory to real samples and observe color changes indicating different molecules. It deepened their understanding of nutrition, digestion, and biological chemistry. Students enjoyed becoming young scientists through this interactive and educational experience.
