On Wednesday, 14 May, Grade 11 students had to do their official poster presentation of the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) exhibition. TOK is an epistemological subject where students look at big questions about knowledge and reflect on themselves as learners.
For this exhibition, students had to choose 3 objects they had to write a commentary about, connected to one of their big questions. For example: “Why do we seek knowledge?” or “What is the relationship between knowledge and culture?”.
The students and staff were guided through this phenomenal exhibition by our 6 TOK ambassadors: Artemiy, Arysha, Jenna, Pouyan, Victoria, and Zara. They also picked the theme for this year’s exhibition: Knowledge, a compass or a cage? And as a fitting centrepiece, the students chose a clock showing how time can also feel like a cage sometimes, yet guiding us towards the right direction.
Students were very creative with their commentary and with picking their objects. The staff members, teachers, and peers were going around asking critical questions and helping them fine-tune their final version for the IB hand-in, as the Exhibition commentary is part of their exam grade for TOK.
Everyone got to vote for their favourite object commentary and overall exhibition. The winners were Hangu for his object, Victoria for her commentary, and Daria for her exhibition.
Well done to all the Grade 11’s we are very proud to see critical thinkers such as yourself develop such fantastic posters and make it a worthwhile afternoon.
We’re already looking forward to next year.
